Kofi Annan to chair hunger-fighting group

FORMER United Nations (UN) secretary-general Kofi Annan has accepted a leadership role in a major initiative to boost crop production in hunger-plagued Africa. The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa announced yesterday that he would chair the board of the organisation, which was established last year with a $150m grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates and Rockefeller foundations.
