WikiLeaks cables: US lobbied Vatican for support of biotechnology

U.S. diplomats have for years been pressing the Vatican for stronger public support of genetically modified foods but have made little headway, according to documents released through WikiLeaks. The latest batch of diplomatic cables written by officials of the U.S. Embassy to the Vatican, released in mid-December, contained two assessments of the Vatican’s cautionary stance on biotechnology under Pope Benedict XVI.
